Another Muslim who used to post here with the screen name jisbond pointed us to the Islamic Articles of Faith written in the 13th Century. In it we found references to the Quran stating that research in condemned and philosophic discourse is ill advised.

So we came to the conclusion that such fundamentalistic views of science took over the Islamic world at that time and eventually led to Islam being rather backward in science. Previous to this, Islam boasted the very best math and science in the world. That was concurrent with Islam conquering almost the entire known world at that time.

But since then Islam has lost it empires to colonial powers that had better science.

So although the quran contains science, as jisbond also pointed out to us, at the same time it apparently can be used to undermine science and in fact that seems to be the case.

PS The prophet of my religion is also still alive.
