Sam,

***H: "Sam's eternal life is at stake if he agrees with a scientist." S: What??? This is the most ridiculous statement you have ever said. Completely ridiculous! Creation\evolution deabte has NOTHING to do with salvation! NOTHING!!!! I have said this before. The personal relationship with Jesus Christ is all that matters. For some reason you guys can not get this through your head.***

You gave a strong impression that you felt it is:

Harv: "You can stay in your faith and conform to current scientific understanding... there are Christian churches that allow you more freedom."

Sam: "Is freedom that important if you are wrong? Would you rather be free for 80 years on earth then die and go to hell for eternity, or would you rather be do things according to God's will and live in heaven for eternity? Sounds harsh, but it's what I believe."

The context of my comments (which you responded with spending eternity in hell) was attending a church that allowed you greater freedom to accept current theories of science. If you attend such a church, then you have no excuse for your holding to your literal interpretation other than that you have no understanding of science or the Bible. However, if it were purely a misunderstanding of science, then why hold to a ridiculous position such as light leaving its source 12 billion years away within 6,000 years.

Obviously there's more to the story than you are letting on. It's not merely a matter of coming to your conclusions by studying creationist pseudoscience, if it were you would have to be a rather low on the intelligence scale. But, I don't think you are such a person. You are letting your desire to believe certain literal interpretations of the Bible to interfere with your judgement in an exaggerated fashion.

Warm regards, Harv
