Close But Not Too Explicit

Especially in regards to what is going on in the church in my neighborhood of Boston- the Cardinal has been deceiving us and covering up wrongdoing.

But that is beside the point.

If you know scripture well and your post is the as close to "thou shalt not lie" as you can get, along with "thou shall not bear false witness agaist thy neighbor", then I would have to conclude that dishonesty is not a serious sin in Christianity or Judaism.

Since it only seems to be explicitly a serious sin in Buddhism, I wonder what the consequences is for cultures where it is or is not explicit.
