Humans are supposedly (according to eastern religions) protected by veils that prevent humans from hearing, or in some cases seeing (Nash), all that extra stuff. Raja Yoga is designed to remove the veils so that the yogi can have supernatural powers like clairvoyamce, thought reading, etc.

Schizophrenia is when the veils are thinned or removed without the human learning how to control all the extra input. The sickness can be overcome by learning to control or at least ignore all the extra input, as my mother did.

You will not find that diagnose or treatment in DSM, but you will see it in the movie, 'The Beautiful Mind'
