The Opposite Of Lucid Dreaming

I read somewhere a reference to the 'waking dreams' of (so-called) schizophrenics. More recently I came across the idea of the 'opposite
of lucid dreaming'.

In lucid dreaming, you are dreaming and know that you are dreaming. A dream becomes lucid when your daytime 'wake consciousness' becomes active while you are in a dream- so you are dreaming and know you are dreaming.

The opposite of this would be: when you are awake, the 'sleep consciousness' or 'dream-state perspective of things' becomes active while you are awake. This idea may explain how someone might experience the world in bizarre ways as allegedly some schizophrenics do.

Pattern matching: if you work late and stay up till you are really tired and sleepy and occasionally almost falling asleep just while sitting down, you can investigate the sub-structure of how the brain works.

To explain this:
The experience of "having a tune playing in one's head that one tends to let keep playing" is widespread.

This "tune" uses the vihm (voice in head mechanism)(that language-thoughts are said with) but is an example of a more independent-like level of the mechanism (as compared to reading something in your head).

When very sleepy, one may none-the-less be alert to consciousness phenomena. It appears that the language-thought mechanism (vihm) obtains its sentences from a sub-layer of all manner of possible sentences being offered up by one's brain as candidates for linguistic thoughts.

One may catch, when very sleepy, that some of the 'more-independent' style word-thought-sentences can seem to be uttered by other people. In other words, almost as a dream-level drama. One can investigate in the very sleepy state the transition from wake-level operations to dream-level; and discover that one creates one's own internal theatre so-to-speak.

It has been shown by researchers that, contrary to their expectations, the 'voices' that so-called schizophrenics hear are not audio-holograms; but sourced from the person's own inner voice mechanism. This suggests to me that what is going on is an experience of the role-assigning and theatrical nature of thought construction, as anyone can discover by investigating their consciousness in a very sleepy state.

Perhaps for some people this sub-layer activity breaks into wake-consciousness and thus makes the world a bizzarre place where thoughts are experienced as being still under construction.

I said "auditory hologram" because the ability to replay sense-data as if the source is external is a natural ability just as valid as listening to a CD. Calling it 'hallucination' disparages it as that word has two contradictory meanings.

One is: an accurate experience of a kind of sense-hologram (vision, sound, etc.) and knowing that is what it is; the contradictory meaning of hallucination is an in-accurate experience where a phenomenon is mistakenly credited with being external when it is internally projected.

Your post was perceptive re: how success encourages people and how religions support people and how there may be neurological variations in the differences of people. But differences I guess you realise are not diseases.
And social contol of troublesome persons must be honest and free of religious/psycho-babble ideology.

Re: "conditioned to failure to be individual" and
and those who the system does not accomodate or who wander with hopeless thoughts: that is why psychiatric coercion must be abolished; and why the idea is useful that 'honesty' can be the 'rock' of stability and freedom, in a messed-up society.

All there is is what there is, so make honesty one's base and one may "walk in the valley of darkness" yet fear no evil.

Christianity teaches God is Existence; and being honest means paying attention to what exists thus paying attention to Existence, thus is being with God.
