It is not the ink versus the blood. This verse is saying the the ink is just as important as the blood. Is there reference to anything else being weighed in the Koran. I'll bet that the standard interpretation is that learning is not as important as blood. But it seems to clearly imply that there is only two things that matter, to give your life to the faith, or to come to understand reality and to communicate it to others.

If it were a matter of all the blood of all the martyrs versus all the ink of all the writers, it is clear that all the ink is heavier. Lots of writers and not many martyrs
