you mention the property of charge.
as an aside to the issue of dark matter i'm curious about this attribute we call charge. specifically it been my experience that charge is treated "axiomatically" in the sense that it just is... great things are done with our knowledge of the existance of charge and great understanding of science has been achieved with the concept but i have never seen the concept treated in a physical sense with respect to giving us some understanding of what it is that makes charge charge. for instance questions come to mind such as what goes on between a negative charge and a postive charge that brings about attraction and what goes on between a positive charge and a postive charge that brings about repulsion. the closest analogy i know of with respect to the physics of charge behavior is the theory of Yukawa regarding how it is that the nucleous of an atom has protons bound inside by the interchange of pions. but of course this is an explaination that shows how the repulsive force of the positively charged protons are overcome so that the protons can exist together in the nucleous of an atom and not an explaination of the nature of repuslion of like charges. any thoughts or ideas here?
