What the founders intended to communicate in the First Amendment was the notion that government would, in no way, encrouch upon the religious freedoms of the people.

What is has come to mean, through misinterpretation on the part of some liberally-minded supreme court justices, is that every vestige of our religious heritage should be purged from government buildings, public schools, currency etc. This is rubbish. It has led to the virtual secularization of our society, to the extent that it is "illegal" for a teacher in a public school to lead a prayer before class, or mere mention of God or Christ in an invocation ceremony.

Evolution is fact, if by definition, it is limited to the cyclical variation of finch-beaks in the Golapagos. When it is extended to include the formation of life from the interaction inert matter, chance and the physical laws, it becomes a metaphysical hypothesis, and an article of faith.
