As time goes on, our definition of truth gets narrower and narrower. Are we organisms? Yes. Are we interconnected organs? Yes. Are we collections of tissues? Yes. Are we clusters of atoms? Yes. But, at any point in the investigation, did anyone stop and say "Well, this is it, this is as far as truth goes!"? No, of course not. And the discoveries of past generations, as basic as they may seem today, are still true, if crude. So what? I may not be getting what point you're trying to make. Reality is real. Our perception of it may not always be 100% correct, but it's a step in the right direction. Looking for truth is preferable to hiding from it. |
