You must be reading a different translation than I. In my copy of the Lotus Sutra which may be found on-line at http://www.quangduc.com/ he is only recognized as realized by the buddhas coming from the ten directions when he realizes that he must teach the law of three vehicles following the law of expediency. He also says that the highest buddhaland of all contains no woman, and that is why it is so high. He also said that he gave the Buddha nature to all living beings, including animals and plants, I presume. In my opinion it is rather egotistical for him to claim that he changed the nature of all living beings when he is just the last of an infinite line of buddhas. |
