the age of the universe is infered from the chronological (forgive the redundance)ages of the patriarchs from Adam, Seth, etc.
That comes to around six k years.
the bible is either true, part true, or myth (lies). If it is partly true, which parts? Which makes it useless for determining "Truth".
(Please dont give me the Language Removed that it is good for teaching morals, etc. So is Aesop's Fables.)
If it is myth, then it is literature and nothing more.
So, it is either true or false.
The Law of Excluded Middle precludes it from being anything else.
Believe it and worship its author, or throw it in the trash, or use it as a door stop, or in some historical literature course (Bible as Literature Eng. 203 or bible as lit Eng 303, perhaps?)
But dont pick and choose what you like or don't like and then try to back it up as Truth.
All or nothing.
Law of excluded middle.
