NPR Announces People Blame Politics More Than Religion

Dear list, I might respond to other threads but just now wanted to stir the pot about a news story heard this morning. National Public Radio
announced results of a survey which, in a nut's hell, says politics is blamed for the world's ills more than religion.
I object.
The two are blurred. The difference between religion and politics is participation in policy formation by the grassroots. In religion, policy is formed more by quasi-elite
(and less accountable) persons and is less likely to change. Religion is by definition more conservative. The war in Iraq was a case of a more religious government attacking a less religious government, but it does not follow that
all religious governments are warlike or that less religious ones are all brutal.
