Perhaps it could have been said more accurately like this:

"Strict adherents to dogmatic religions tend to conservatism more than liberalism, as conservatism in general tends toward tradition while liberalism in general does not. Politically liberal religious people tend, in general, not to take their religion as seriously and literally as religious conservatives. Thus, the religious leaders of any major religion are usually conservative."

Can we at least agree on this one, Aaron?
