About which of the two basic choices would be considered the most preferred condition of the finished eco system.

1. Allow evolution to improve the condition in the eco system.
This will require a long time for improvement and the introduction of disease extinction etc.

2. Use you inelegance to select and modify the species introduce to expedite the process.
This option may also allow the introduction of some complicated relationships between the species which would not occur due to natural selection alone.

My first inclination is that the second approach would be used if we were capable of it.
I was curious to see if some evolution fans might want to argue the first choice should be taken.
