I suspect that religion will be with us until the end of our species, but I think the dogmatic religions that make actual statements about reality are on the way out. Religion can't keep pace with science forever, and today the only ones who take religion totally literally are radical fringe groups. I'd guess that this trend will continue until religion is a more private, introspective, philosophical experience, more about ideas than beliefs.

At least, that's what I'd like to see.
