***Freedom, civilization, and democracy only took hold in Europe after they separated the state from the shackles of the church and its bible. Please see the history of medieval Europe to learn about what happens when Christianity is in power.***

The problem here is that Rome suffered major invasions from 406 AD thru the 12th century (including Islamic invasions). Imagine if Western cities were invaded for seven centuries causing a dark age until 2702. I think Christianity deserves a great deal of credit for maintaining a separation of Church and State during this period. Even though the Popes were very corrupt, especially in the 12th century, a great deal of commerce, exchange of ideas, and education took place in this period.

Also, keep in mind that the Barbarian tribes were not Christian. Christianity won over the Barbarian tribes to Christianity over time thereby preserving the religion of Europe. I know of religions that won over their new neighbors by force, but did you ever hear of a religion that won over their invaders?

Christianity is an amazing religion. It survived constant and severe opposition into the 4th century of its inception and then after winning over the Roman empire had to start all over again with the Barbarian tribes. Once the invasions stopped, we see Europe almost immediately become the most advanced culture on earth. The growth doesn't stop, even into the 21st century.

Warm regards, Harv
