Genesis - Lack Of Confidence?

My wife expressed an interesting thought after I asked her why do fund. christians work up such a lather about "proving" young Earth concepts rather than concentrate on accepting Jesus.

She said those people typically are not confident in their belief of Jesus without having to seek out and prove every other element of the Bible.

So it seems they feel threatened when folks question the accuracies of the Bible and must rush to defend it even though accepting Jesus is all you really need.
