I'm sure that I can't offer a true opinion, lacking too much critical information of the times and people. Its certainly an interesting idea and concept, that would probably require a historian and scientific biographer who focuses on those times to figure it out. I'd need to learn about the motives of Gallileo,Corpornicus (i can't spell that ever), and others that went well away from doctrine taught to science experienced (sic)."

Hi Rich.
There are layers in this question.
A quiet mind is needed for high abstraction.
Where in a world with savage tendencies could
someone find peace and the calm courage to communicate new views that run counter to Harv's 'group wisdom'? The idea that Jesus "calmed the waters" is metaphorical. He said,"Forgive them; they know not what they do." That helps calm one's own mind.
Rage, they say, motivates will to fight. But weapons and peace are best forged by calmer minds. Other religions preach
peace admirably...but had not much to say when things got out of control in their own lands Jesus' teaching explores various
topics in keeping peace or finding new ways to make peace when it seems impossible...and sometimes, in includes carrying burdens or being
extra generous or patient. Unfortunately, the
'group wisdom' within Christian movements is frequently wrong too, or oppressive. It's a little like
the invention of controlled fire at the dawn of human history -- it will lead to great things, and sometimes it goes the wrong way.
Sorry we're not friends.
Mike
