Okay I got this in Class should be easy enough to solve for you guys.

There is a moat that surronds a castle. The moat is a rectangle, there is a grass ledge on both sides of the moat. (Grass ledge demensions don't matter) The moat is more than 10 feet wide and it is equal on all sides. You have two 10 foot boards.

Question: How wide can the moat be and you still can get across with the boards? There is no way to join the boards together. And one cannot make a pyramid over the moat or put the boards in the water.

I know the solution to how to place the boards, but I can't figure out how to calculate the width.
