I think your difficulty is that time is on an equal footing with space. If you wish to define time and space as two elements of reality, and dimension as a division of one of these elements, then I'd say your difficulty lies within your semantics.

A spatial coordinate (x, y, z) is only that coordinate for one interval. A Planck time later, it is not the same coordinate.

If, in your studies of late-19th and early-20th century physics, you haven't yet run across a man named Hubble, I suggest you find him quickly.
