Wow Alex,

Perhaps you’re not as crabby as I thought. Your reaction has made me laugh -- and shudder; I'm not sure my skills are 'up to it').

To find these formulas/formulae, I had to break out an old book, Fundamentals of Physical Science, by Krauskopf (hey, you stick with your Russians, I’ll stick with my Germans). Sorry I couldn't do it from memory alone, as you'd probably expect from your students.

As I worked through these problems I saw some potential for mistakes. For instance, I could only calculate the first one based on a constant acceleration up to one second, a condition your problem seems to neither require nor reject.

Anyway, if these are way off, then I suppose we’ll all have a good laugh…
