with Einstein's paradigm. Newton's paradigm may result in the E conservation violation you mention because Newton's physics can't describe strong field physics. You need to use relativistic physics. The local physics done by shell observers uses SR and the faraway observer is the GR bookkeeper. "The non-relativistic viewpoint, Newton and Euler, distinguished two forms of energy. One form, kinetic, depends on speed, and the other , potential depends on the distance from the center of attraction. Einstein's account of motion in curved spacetime recognizes no such distinction.
