Jager 5" Achromatic

I have an opportunity to purchase a homebuilt 5" refractor with the above optics...I have tried to find this brand, but with no luck. I have built/owned newtonians, but would like to try a refractor. Any ideas or comments?

P.S. He is selling the scope and Alt/Az mount for $500...rip off or not?
