Planetary Positions For Telescope Control

I have a great system to control our observatory telescope that uses Xephem as its front end--it really works well when I point at a fixed object but for anything else, all I get in xephem_loc_fifo is the database entry, which for planets is nothing more than the name of the planet. I would like to get the planet`s current celestial coordinates to my controller without having to reconstruct the code to calculate it in my control software. Xephem knows where they are, it just won`t tell me.
