I suggest linking your daemon with libastro so you can call db_crack_line() to convert the fifo string into an Obj; construct a Now from your local time and location; then call obj_cir() to get the planet`s Alt/Az and RA/Dec. Details about both of these structures are in the comments in circum.h.
