is when you cannot derive an entire theory from axioms. Goedel prove that mathematics is irrational. As for physics, we do not even have a particle theory. The quantum theory, which is only for fields, predicts probabilities for particles and is therefore incomplete. Even so it predicts that we cannot know a particles properties precisely. So we can never predict where it is going. That is irrational, the fact that we cannot predict paricle history. It makes the world random. Chaitin even claims that mathematics is fundamentally random with only islands of rational theory that is still incomplete. |
