Where Do The Mathematical Symmetries Come From?

My thanks to Dick for introducing me to this forum (he found me at counterbalance.org/srforum).

Alexander, as my title suggests, where do you think the laws of symmetry come from? This is important since a belief in existing laws (i.e., ontological laws) is a platonist belief and parallels theism in a number of ways.
