Yes, the problem is that philosophical education is based on feelings and historical examples, but not on logic and numbers. So for them stretching time (as it approaches the specific moment of crossing) to the infinity and then claiming that thus in reality time will never approach the crossing moment seems "logical".

The problem is that teachers and educators have more responsibility than someone else in shaping myths and misconceptions - students tend to believe teachers until many years later thay find that the teacher (and thus them too) was not right (and many students may never grow up and firmly believe in flat earth because teacher told so). I even know teachers who teaches physics with remark that "physics theories come and go, but the Bible stays"). And what do you think - his students firmly believe in Creation.
