Why not look at the story in the Bible about Adam, Eve and the Apple as it is presented.

God the creator, created his children. He gave his children a test, this test is also gods test of his own creation.

Example would be; if in the future when science and technology creates true artificial intelligence, building a robot with such intelligence would require the builders to test their creation.

In the Bible the fruit of the tree of knowledge was forbidden to eat. With eating that fruit, man now has the Knowledge of both GOOD and EVIL. Before eating the fruit, man was like an innocent baby, with all his needs being taking care of in Paradise.

What I'm trying to say is that man now understands that his actions could be good or evil. Before the fall man was incapable of good or evil.
A newborn baby is incapable of acting in a good or evil way.

Also:
God may have had some sort of blessing on Adam and Eve where as they we intellagent but incapable of doing any EVIL.
