: : : : : How does an atheist scientist explain the existence of the first DNA molecule?

: : : : I exist, therefore DNA exists. Who said there was a first one?

: : : Charles Darwin.

: : :: Wrong. Charles Darwin died before the word that DNA stands for was invented.

: Is it not implicit in his theory that every trait that is present in an organism has a biological precurser?

There is a pool of traits associated with each species. And this pool was preceded by a precursor pool. We cannot associate a single precursor with a single precursor Similarly there is a variety of DNA molecules in each species, all having precursors, and all altering configuration over time. Frankly, as a theist scientist, I think God uses trial and error to design life, and the quality assurance of natural disasters to resolve the defects.
