There is a pool of traits associated with each species. And this pool was preceded by a precursor pool. We cannot associate a single precursor with a single precursor Similarly there is a variety of DNA molecules in each species, all having precursors, and all altering configuration over time. Frankly, as a theist scientist, I think God uses trial and error to design life, and the quality assurance of natural disasters to resolve the defects. |
