Something interesting for all to read:

'CREATING A MULTICULTURAL EUROPE:
THE BRITISH APPROACH'
Foreign Office Minister, Patricia Scotland, delivered a speech at the British Embassy in Berlin on 1 December on the British approach towards multiculturalism. Baroness Scotland said that whilst there is no 'monolithic' British view about multiculturalism, the Government's
policies are clear: 'we see strength and enrichment in diversity. And we believe that one of our greatest responsibilities is to try to make Britain a fairer place.' She examined the historical reasons for Britain's multiculturalism and the definition of British identity. She touched on the issue of forced marriage, the lessons from the Stephen Lawrence inquiry, and the UK's asylum and immigration policies. Britain and Germany face many of the same challenges, Baroness Scotland concluded,
'and we share a common goal - to achieve fair, inclusive societies across Europe, where, regardless of race or religion, people feel themselves equal parts of a whole.'
