For your thought experiment the participants have to agree on what the entanglement measurements will mean 'above and beyond' what the measurement is. They do this before they even separate. If the information wasn't exchanged prior to the participants separating then there would be no special meaning attached to the measurement. There are physicists that think any FTL signal constitutes information so whatever your opinion is has something to do with your definition of information. This paper is by several of the leading non-local experimenters. They all agree that none of these experiments have violated Einstein's causality.
