There Are A Series Of Assumptions

You say the following about DrDick's work:

"hmm Dr. Dick in his document attempts to make no assumptions other than that reality is communicable."

If that was his attempt, then he failed. Here are a few of his assumptions:

1. He assumes what reality is, numbers, which is like assuming that math exists but not physics. He never states how the numbers are communicated.

2. He assumes 4-d spacetime. Actually that is not necessary and for example Loop Quantum Theory(LQG)does not and is able to derive spacetime and its symmetries.

3. He assumes various symmetries for his numbers embedded in space time. For example, scale symmetry (same physics regardless of how big the numbers are) and shift symmetry (the physics does not depend on location) and cylindrical symmetry as well. If you have read that far, he adds in unknown data in a direction orthagonal to the original data and then assumes that the physics is independent of direction on that 2-d plane. It seems he assumes the 4-d data can be cast into a linear stream without ever saying so.

One time he claimed that all number symmetries are allowed in his theory. But if that were true then all of mathematics should follow.

Noether has most elegantly expressed the relationship between spacetime symmetries and physical laws of conservation.

Frieden derived essentially the same physics as Stafford using the Fisher information Sampling theory which estimates the behavior of data from a partial set of known data, which is like Stafford's knownable and unknowable data.

Stafford claims to not know of Frieden's work. Yet we have discussed it many times on this forum and have provided links to his papers. Now Frieden's work is not completely accepted in the physics community. But he at least has been able to get it published and has written a book on it, now in its second printing.

Stafford cannot publish his work because of his outlandish claims for it. He cannot even find acceptance on forums, neither this one nor the WEDconsciousness forum that he presented it on. He probably failed on other forums I do not know about.

So the fact is that Stafford assumes he is not making assumptions, and tries to get others to believe him by just saying so.

But he is just making the same assumptions as many others have done succesfully. Even his theory has been done before by at least one person. But his set of assumptions is not sufficient to accurately represent the reality so far established by science.

At one time perhaps in the late 1900s it would have been a step forward. But now it is behind. Science and especially astronomy and physics is getting a more and more accurate representation of reality. Physicists can now derive spacetime using LQG. They can even derive the Big Bang and Inflation theory without making assumptions about how it started and how it ended.

There are always assumptions, but the number are being minimized. In the most minimized theory, LQG, a basic form of reality is assumed- loops- and a specific set of mathematics is assumed to apply. Then both spacetime and its symmetries emerge from the theory. LQG is still incomplete. As Bruce mentioned, it should be able to derive string theory. But right now it is our best hope for a theory that unifies all the laws of physics. Stafford is just too little and too late.

Richard
