I'm simply suggesting that God is not directly responsible. (especially when using the fundy description of God as a sentient being with humanlike traits.) When Earth orbits the sun, there is no evidence of sentience or guidance behind it. It orbits the sun simply because of the laws of gravity, electromagnetism, etc., built into the universe. "How did those laws get created in the first place?" is another issue entirely. However, in an age where the universe is increasingly being explained in a relatively deterministic fashion (what goes up, comes down, always predictably, never varying, all things being equal) I see no room for Apollo's chariot.

Unless, of course, you invoke pantheism. However I do not consider an "entity" who is not sentient to be a god, but simply a supercosmic order.
