Are compatible with physics- yes. They involve forces and fields known to physics. All but perhaps consciousness are understood physically.

But I do not learn much about god from these equations. So I prefer to concentrate on the fundamental equations of physics, the phenomena they predict, and especially that phenomena that seems to correlate with scripture.

Harvey correctly points out that a god who wishes to be known to us would not wait until the 21st century for string theory, etal., to reveal him to us. That is why he has revealed him/herself in so many religions in the past. But now that we have such a sophisticated understanding of the universe, perhaps another gift of god via inspiration, we also have the means to reveal god's mechanisms using science.

My view is that god wishes us to do as much as possible on our own. That is referred to as the minimum energy principle of god that seems to control the whole universe according to physics. That is why god uses evolution to accomplish his/her ends. It is the most energy efficient way to do so.

Regards,

yanniru
