Sure, answer the question. Though from this quote I think you misinterpreted it:

No it wasn't. It was an empirical, scientific attempt to explain how species develop. Does it contradict creationism? Yes, but it wasn't designed just to combat it. That would just be belligerence and sophism. The scientific community is not organized on the principle of snuffing out religion, it's organized on the principle of empiricism and experimentation. That that experimentation so often contradicts religious tenets I think is good evidence of religion's lack of objective worth.

The question is, you and Sam claim to be objective and scientific. If you had no religious tome to draw from, I ask do you think you would still believe as you do? I expect no.
