5 thousand yesrs ago god(s) were very close - behind practically each phenomenon. With knowledgge growing, there became less and less god(s) left - now only one barely survives (and even this one has to hide far far away (obviousely not in our universe and obviousely not influencing any event in our univese). So, as soon as good education will be affordable to everyone, the last trace of ancient superstitions will vanish completely.
