In fact, I thought it was just christianity. But from the discussions between jisbond and myself and others on this forum, I have come to realize that it extends to Islam. I guess the common denominator is fundamentalism. Fundamentalists appear to be anti-science. They seem to invent their own sciences, like creationism, that support the literal interpretation of the bible.

It's a shame about Islam. The Arabs helped carry on science when the Christians were in the dark ages. And the Koran refers to rather advanced scientific thinking according to some of the posts on this forum.

I do not understand what happened to the Arab sense of investigation and research, but I gather that it has been lost. It seems that all religions have fundamentalists that prefer to look backwards rather than forwards. If the fundamentalists take over, science is sacrificed. That is something to be very fearful of and perhaps we are in common agreement on that point even though our views on reality seem so different.
