The focal length is actually 1000mm. So, at the 25mm, I should have 40x mag. With the 4mm, i should have 250x mag. That 4mm is also 3 years old, if that has anything to do with it, and I probably should invest in new eyepieces anyway. My 2x barlow lens with the 4mm is pushing the mag limits according to Celestron, because thats obviously 500x. I tried that, it sort of worked, but not a really clear picture. Ive seen that you have a few posts out there, so, I might as well ask. Im an advanced beginner(Im still in High school, so time is limited), and the 114GT is my 3rd scope...so, my question is, what is a good scope that gets the best bang for the buck? Nothing really more than $2K, and greater than the 4.5" aperture i have now.
