re - Does gravity travel instantanious, or does it travel at a certain speed. -- The speed of gravity = the speed of light. But this only means that alterations in a distribution of matter will propagate at the speed of light. If I accelerate a body then it takes a certain time for another body to feel it. re - And can you detect what is inside a black hole, or at least the mass distribution, by measuring the gravity of the hole? ---- Sure. But you are limited by knowing only the amount of mass inside the hole. You can always tell how much mass is inside the hole by the manner in which objects orbit the hole. Or by the size of the event horizon etc. re What if you drop something into the hole and measures its position by the use of its gravity? what will then be detected? --- Good question. I bet that when you can no longer detect it that there is no distinction between the black hole as it was and the black hole with slightly more mass.
