Thanks for the replies! I have been trying to do very short strokes, narrow W to try and get the thing spherical. Had another go last night for 2 hours MOT and it made virtually no difference to the shape. The Lap however is in good contact over the whole mirror, ( i can see this throught the back of the mirror since i'm using plate glass).

My plan is recut the channels, lengthen the stroke ( i have been using less than 1 1/2" total length, do another couple of hours MOT, and see what happens. since im also trying to avoid a turned down edge.

Maybe i'm trying too hard to avoid this and giving myself another problem??

If it doesnt work, is it worth going back to polishing pads for a while to clean up the shape??

Anyhow, opinions solicited. This is a bit frustrating but i think i'm learning a thing or two along the way while trying to fix my stuff ups!
Seeyahz!
