Rick,
Several companies produce ultra-high reflecting
mirrors. I own a televue all-dialectric diagonal
that they claim to do 98 % or better. Intes
and Intes Micro both do enhanced aluminum or silver yielding 96 % or better. Aluminum with
SiO2 and Al2O3 dialectric layers do very and
produce very hard surfaces that lasts longer and
is resistant to scratches. There really is no
secret as to how to do it. The difficulty lies
in the cost of the equip and the people to do it.
It also takes a lot of power. My modest equip has
one 3-phase 220V 100Amp, one 220v 50Amp, abd two
110V 30Amp lines. It also requires adding a gallon
of liquid nitrogen. There is also several compressed air-lines and couple compressed nitrogen lines and 3 lines of chilled water to
keep the system cool (7 GPM).My primary job is
to design and manufacture filters for military
night vision equipment.

Al
