I have never built a telescope before and am interested in building a 8" f/7 truss tube scope for portability. Is a truss tube more difficult to build than a Sonotube? I already have a Orion XT8, but want to build a telescope. I originally wanted to build a 10", but then I saw the price of the mirrors. An 8" is more in line with my budget. I saw the plans for a 6" Travel Scope on the internet and was looking to build something like that. I feel that if I build a 6" I might be disappointed since I am use to looking through a 8" telecope. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
