We send probes full of our diseases to other planets, to the edge of the solar system and inevitably beyond, for the sake of curiosity. We emit radio waves with reckless abandon as well, hoping to beacon intelligent life that may just signal to hostile worlds our presence, or create interference with alien businesses. This is because to us, Earth is still center of the universe. Any consideration beyond is secondary and at times, treated comically.
Who is to say that we are not under a galactic rule? It may sound silly, but similarly, there were western tribes in the 1800's that probably weren't aware that the west was claimed as US territory. Maybe we just lie (in the galaxy)in a subtle part of jurisdiction, not yet aware.
We could be in violation of quarantine laws and radio emission. We are not pardoned for being ignorant of the law on earth, so why not the galaxy?
Maybe we will be squashed and laughed at in the manner a child steps on an insect with his shoe.
Food for thought. Silly humans.
