Hi Glenn,

Congrats on the purchase of what sounds like some very worthwhile eyepieces! I'm just curious to know how M81 and M82 looked through your 6" scope - i.e. brightness and features. Those galaxies have always eluded my observation attempts through 8x40 binoculars. On the other hand I have seen M31; this showed up as a small, dim, featureless smudge. One partly cloudy night I was able to bring my 10" SCT out briefly and was disappointed to see M31 at 100x as a large, dim, featureless smudge that hardly filled half the field of view. Not sure if I set my expectations too high or (heaven forbid) still have optical problems with my scope. Hope to see M81 and M82 next time I have it out. Just wanted to compare notes!

Thanks,
Matt
