Hi all. I'm a new owner of a ETX105, my first new scope in 25 years! My last was a toy store 2.5 in refractor when I was ten.

My problem is the tracking abilities of the scope. My ignorance (I'm learning) may be the biggest problem. My first question.. I assume that the Alt/AZ mounting/alligning procedure will not only find Objects in the sky, but also track them, right? Does the scope need to be equatorially mounted to properlly track objects once found?

I've started by leveling the tripod, then the scope horizontally towards North. It then calculates the two star setup (fairly accuratly) however it doesn't seem to track worth a darn! The objects seem to dissapear from the FOV just as quickly as when the unit is off and not tracking.

Any tips?? BTW I did do the 'training' step.

Steve
