Refurbishing 1980's LX8"

I have an older Meade 8" that I bought back in 1987 that was stored in a rather moist, dank environment for several years. As a result, the optics seem to have been totally ruined, almost like they've been eaten away. I've tried cleaning but the coatings that were on the optics have definetly been pitted and eroded, rendering the scope useless. Does anyone know if the optics can be refurbished or even replaced? Or is this telescope a total loss?
