Two Options

Two options:
1) Meade may well be able to replace or recoat the mirrors for you. If I understand correctly, they replace rather than recoat most optics.
2) Send the mirrors to a third party for recoating. This would involve your opening up the tube yourself, to be able to remove the mirrors--something not to be taken lightly. Do I understand that this is an old Schmidt-Cassegrain scope? If it is another design (Newtonian, say), removing the mirrors may be easy. In that case, recoating by a third party is a good option. Years ago a company in the Chicago area called Clausen did the job for me--they took several months but did a good job. Their address is
