Meade And Starry Night Pro

I have been trying to get this combination of Meade LX-200 GPS and Starry Night Pro to work for almost two weeks now. Sometimes it does and most of the time it doesn't see the telescope and I get an error message stating there doesn't seem to be anything connected to the com port.
I've tried starting Starry Nights first and I've tried configuring the scope first. Sometimes it works and most of the time it doesn't.
I love the graphics of Starry Night but at least Meade's Epoch 2000 software works.
HELP!!!!!!
