Re "C" Cells

I only use my C cells (rechargeable alkalines) for visual observing in my back yard with no heavy attachments. As Mitch does, I too use "jump start" style 12-volt batteries (one for the scope and one or even two for accessories) when I'm doing anything more than that. I don't buy these mail-order. Keep your eyes open at Wal Mart, Sam's Club, Target, etc, and you can get them lots cheaper than from telescope mail order houses.
Plus, leaving out the C cells makes your scope just a bit lighter (though their weight is well distributed and doesn't affect slewing much).
